Overview

Custom fields allow you to add extra data to your equipment and tailor Hiboo's usage to the needs of your organization.

They are created in the Administration section of the app and can be accessed in each selected workspace.

Use cases

Our users commonly use custom fields to:

  • Differentiate between rented and non-rented equipment by creating a contract status field.

  • Add the purchase date of equipment to enrich their reports.

  • Create different categories to communicate the condition of equipment and better plan maintenance.

  • Record the status of dumpsters and the materials they transport for better real-time visibility.

Basics

Creating, Editing, and Deleting

Custom fields are managed under Administration > Custom Fields. From there, you can create a new field, edit an existing field, or delete a field.

A custom field includes:

  • A name

  • A description

  • A list of workspaces where it will be available

  • A format (Text, Number, Select, URL)

  • Options (only for the “Select” format)

Tips

  • Only the “Select” format allows you to filter your inventory by the field.

  • The format cannot be changed once the field is created.

Filling out fields

To populate custom fields, you can:

  • Do so from the equipment profile page (in the dedicated section).

  • Use a bulk import.

Viewing Fields

Once created, custom fields are visible in various tables within the app, as well as in tooltips on the map.

Filtering

Fields of the “Select” type can be used as filters throughout the app, especially in reports. They enable analysis based on the field.

Example: To determine the fuel consumption of non-rented equipment, you can go to the “Hourly Consumption” report and filter by the “Non-rented” option in the “Contract Status” field.

FAQ

I can’t filter by a custom field.

This is likely because the custom field is not of the “Select” type.
