Overview
The utilization rate provides a consolidated view of profitability, but it is less meaningful for operational teams, who manage performance in hours. This is where real fleet optimization happens.
Usage hours tracking makes operating hours concrete and actionable by allowing you to:
Highlight under-utilized or even unused machines
Limit the retention of machines “just in case” on job sites
Track reasons for unavailability and adjust calculations accordingly
Basics
Configure
Configuration allows you to adapt the visualization of machine-days to your needs:
Tracked days : days to include in the display.
Under-utilization : threshold below which machine-days are highlighted to show under-utilization. By default, this threshold is based on the utilization rate target.
Inactivity : threshold below which machine-days are highlighted to show inactivity.
Visualize
Operating hours are displayed in a table, with machines in rows and time periods in columns.
Select the period you want to analyze.
Choose the time granularity (day, week, month, year).
Quickly identify machines that are under-utilized or unused.
Annotate
When using the day granularity, you can annotate each cell to provide context for usage.
Unassigned – the machine was not assigned to an activity or job site
Maintenance – the machine was undergoing maintenance
Damage – the machine was damaged due to usage
Breakdown – the machine experienced an unplanned technical failure
Weather – the machine could not operate normally due to weather conditions
Data issue – usage data is unreliable due to a data problem
The Unavailability Report tab allows you to visualize the distribution of these annotations per machine.
The more disciplined the data entry, the more accurate and complete your view of fleet utilization will be.
Analyze
In the side panel, you can access high-level indicators for the selected period and fleet:
Distribution of days by usage (based on your configuration).
Utilization rate.
Unavailability days.
You can also choose to exclude unavailability days from the day distribution and utilization rate calculations to more accurately reflect operational performance.
