Understand workspace hierarchy

Hiboo's parent-child relationships allow you to create several levels of hierarchy to better reflect your organisation.

Introduction

You can hierarchically organise workspaces, to match your organisation as closely as possible and make Hiboo easier to administer.

How rights and equipment are inherited

Basics

The parent-child relationship between workspaces

You can now organise your workspaces into different levels. These levels have parent and child relationships.

  1. A workspace can have an unlimited number of child workspaces.

  2. A workspace can have only one direct parent (but an unlimited number of indirect parents (grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.).

  3. Level 0 is the root space. It is the parent (direct or indirect) of all other spaces.

  4. Level 1 for workspaces directly linked to the root space.

  5. Levels 2+ for the child spaces of the previous levels.

Inheritance rules

What will make administration easier for large organisations is the fact that certain changes are made automatically based on the relationships between workspaces.

  1. Equipment placed in a workspace will automatically be added to its direct and indirect parent workspaces.

  2. What will make administration easier for large organisations is the fact that certain changes are made automatically based on the relationships between workspaces.

  3. Equipment placed in a workspace will automatically be added to its direct and indirect parent workspaces.

  4. The rights given to a user on a workspace will automatically be inherited by his direct and indirect child workspaces. This means that a user can never have fewer rights on a child workspace than he or she has on the parent workspace.

The hierarchy between rooms is created when each room is created. We therefore recommend that you think carefully about your organisation before implementing it in Hiboo. The CSM team can help you set up your hierarchized organisation.

FAQ

How to delete a workspace that is the parent of other workspaces?

It is not currently possible. Therefore, you must first delete all child workspaces before deleting the parent workspace.

How can I move an existing workspace to hierarchize it?

It is not currently possible to move an existing workspace within the application. There are two options: either you request assistance from the CSM team, or you recreate the workspace and assign it the correct parent space.
